Equine Health and Diet

When the student is ready the teacher will appear.......

The photo above shows a small selection of some of our beloved rescue horses that we have taken on over the years and all have a story to tell.

It has been the lessons that we have learned from the varied and ever changing eclectic herd that has taught us about what works best for horses, on what to do to get them over a lot of the health challenges they initially arrived to us with.

As unfortunately a large proportion of the unwanted, abused and neglected equines that come into our care are in poor shape, and/or have a host of medical illnesses and issues that they are suffering with upon their arrival including poor body scores, ill thrift, ulcers, colic, allergies, laminitis name just a few .....

Yet in 99% of all of the cases that we successfully rehabilitate, we have been able to return the horse back to being a healthy, happy equine friend and have learned that this unequivocally comes from what the horse eats in his daily diet and how we go about managing their grass intake and grazing environments too.

So, with that in mind, we have put together several pages and various articles on our approach to equine health, so that you can see what works and what doesn't to help your New Zealand horse to be healthier too, and we hope you will feel free to browse our pages and follow our recommended feeding plans.

Happy Horsing :)
